Luccarelli Primitivo 2019

At a Glance
Overall Deep burgundy, cocoa, spice,  currants, fig jam, starts a bit “hot” really lush finish
Notes Some words and terms really get people going. For instance “moist” and “mouth feel” make my brain skip a beat. This wine has a really great mouth feel from start to finish. Very lush! (add “lush” to the above list)
Sweetness dry – 11 g/L
Food oil & garlic pasta, roasted vegetables, sautéed mushrooms

Southbrook Cabernet Merlot Shiraz 2006

I think this should be the typical three grapes for a meritage. An excellent blend for the price.
The shiraz shines well in this dry, mid-full bodied vintage.

Wolf Blass Eagle Hawk Shiraz 2006

Wolf Blass’ Eagle Hawk shiraz is well crafted and simply put, an excellent value at under $13
This well balanced shiraz is definitely a crowd pleaser. I found it off-dry, fruit forward with a subtle spicy note on the finish along with medium tannins.

Cline Syrah 2007

Coming from Sonoma, California this Syrah is an excellent value wine. The blueberry/blackberry is very forward but not overpowering of the spicy/peppery finish. The only critique I have with it is the slightly bitter finish which lessens as the wine breathes.
By the way, incase you were wondering: Shiraz, Syrah, potatoe, potato.
But if you every find yourself in Australia or South Africa, say Shiraz. Otherwise, Syrah.
